TPV Technology Group has unveiled the world’s first television with dual-sided displays, according to TechRadar.
The GP TV has two sides—a front and a back—each housing a 48-inch screen. The displays feature a 4K OLED matrix. The model features metal legs made from recycled materials and supports Dolby Atmos.
The company explained that multiple users, such as gamers, design the GP TV for simultaneous viewing. It is also targeted at the public sector and government agencies.
“This design seems unusual, as most monitors or televisions are placed against a wall or on a table, making the presence of a rear-mounted display largely unnecessary,” the journalists described the device. The authors note that despite the technical innovations, there are concerns about the practical application of the dual-sided design. The price of the GP TV and its release date have not been disclosed, but TPV Technology Group emphasizes that the television is a premium product.
In late January, analysts at Counterpoint Research predicted that Samsung would cease to be the world’s leading TV manufacturer in the foreseeable future. The company could lose that title to China’s TCL.
