The race to create new forms of entertainment and computing devices powered by artificial intelligence has intensified competition among major tech companies.
Alibaba launched its new Quark AI-powered glasses in China on Thursday, signaling the Chinese tech company’s entry into the AI-powered wearables market, Reuters reports.
Prices for the headset, powered by the Qwen AI model and Alibaba’s app, will start at 1,899 yuan (268.25 dollars).
Unlike other headsets produced by companies like Meta, the Quark glasses look like regular glasses with black plastic frames.
Alibaba said the glasses will be tightly integrated with its apps, such as the Alipay payment app and the Taobao shopping site, and users will be able to use them for tasks like on-the-go translation and instant price recognition.
Other Chinese tech companies have also released similar AI-powered glasses. Xiaomi launched the product in June.
