The Ashgabat Russian House celebrated the centenary of the birth of legendary aircraft designer Alexei Tupolev, according to the country’s International Information Center.
The event, held in the format of an interactive lesson, proved a true celebration for young people passionate about aviation and engineering achievements.
Participants participated in a fascinating quiz dedicated to Tupolev-branded aircraft and discussed current trends in the aviation industry, including the prospects for hydrogen engines, artificial intelligence in piloting, and other innovative technologies.
Alexei Tupolev, born on May 20, 1925, will forever remain in the history of global aviation. Under his leadership, numerous landmark projects were developed, including the supersonic Tu-144 passenger jet, the Tu-22M and Tu-160 strategic bombers, and the widely known Tu-154 and Tu-204 passenger jets. In the 1970s, Tupolev headed the Tupolev Design Bureau and became a pioneer in the use of computer modeling and CAD systems in aircraft manufacturing.
Tupolev was awarded numerous of the highest state awards, including the title of Hero of Socialist Labor and the Lenin Prize. His name is associated with breakthroughs in science and engineering, and his legacy continues to inspire future generations.
