The 47th meeting of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) began in Ashgabat on October 14. The event brings together nine member countries: Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, and Tajikistan, according to the country’s International Information Center.
The meeting discussed strategic issues related to the development of the patent system. Topics included legislative harmonization, digitalization of services, and strengthening the fight against intellectual property infringement. Participants also reviewed budgetary issues, approved new rules, and discussed prospects for international cooperation.
The selection of Ashgabat as the venue for the 47th session, which is held twice a year, underscores Turkmenistan’s growing importance in regional integration and its commitment to developing intellectual property.
The event will last three days. Decisions are expected to shape the further development of the patent system in the Eurasian region.
