Books are one of the main sources of education. Books play a very important role in human life. Reading books educates human character, broadens one’s outlook, and develops talent. In our country, various events are held to promote a reading culture, and book fairs are regularly organized. These, in turn, increase a person’s desire to read.
One of such impressive competitions was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan from September 24 to October 24. Inspired by the meaningful words of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, our Hero Arkadag in his book “The Continuation of the Meaning of Life”: “We must form a book-reading society… It would be more pleasant if we declared the unity of book reading in our country every year,” the “Book Marathon” for reading works of art among students and masters of higher educational institutions of our country was filled with wonderful events. Based on the results of the marathon organized by the Young Scholars Council of the Institute, a meeting with professors, teachers, and youth and, a ceremony to award the winners were held recently in the main building of the Institute.
By September 20, 426 people from higher educational institutions in the country had registered for the “Book Marathon,” which aims to help young people acquire useful habits, develop self-confidence, improve memory, enhance thinking and imaginative concepts, increase creative abilities, and expand vocabulary. On September 24-26, 210 participants gained the right to pass the selection stage of the “Book Marathon” based on three-day general questions for participants. The “Concept of Developing the Digital Education System in Turkmenistan” and its implementation plan, approved by the Resolution of the Honorable President, were guided by the “Book Marathon” and were held on the “Google Classroom” platform using the capabilities of the digital system. During the marathon, which lasted a month, the book “Turkmenistan – The Land of Neutrality” by our Hero Arkadag was read at the request of the participants. During the “Book Marathon” plan, the number of pages was divided into days, and the book was evaluated based on the results of questionnaires, discussions, and additional assignments every day. The book “Turkmenistan – The Land of Neutrality” by the National Leader, as well as the Neutrality Policy a question-and-answer exchange that reveals the essence and content. Participants were divided into special groups and selected as the most active book readers by completing tasks. According to the results of “Book Marathon”, 71 book lovers were selected and declared the winners of the competition.
The winners were awarded letters of honor and gifts by the rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in a solemn atmosphere.
