Today, the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan D.Gulmanova met with the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of effective cooperation and many years of experience between Turkmenistan and the United Nations and its specialized agencies.
During the meeting, the significance of the great reforms being implemented under the wise leadership of the President of Turkmenistan and the resolutions adopted by the United Nations on our country’s initiative regarding the creation of energy and transport corridors, ensuring peace and stability was emphasized. The parties also noted that the initiative to proclaim 2028 as the Year of International Law will have an important role in strengthening mutual trust and respect in interstate relations, as well as strengthening the international legal framework for peace and cooperation.
The importance of training seminars and meetings held within the framework of joint cooperation on coordinating national plans with sustainable development goals, improving legislative projects in line with international standards, as well as digitizing the information systems of the national Parliament and improving electronic document circulation was also emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairperson of the National Parliament congratulated Dmitry Shlapachenko on his appointment as the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations to the Republic of Azerbaijan and wished him great success in the new diplomatic position.
