On 26 August 2026, a meeting through videoconferencing took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Chairman of the Japanese-Turkmen Committee on Economic Cooperation Hiroyuki Tsubai.
During the talks, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in the framework of preparations for the next meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation.
Current and future projects in areas such as the gas chemical industry, transport, the circular economy and others were discussed.
Agreements were reached on the main items of the agenda and the programme of work for the Joint Meeting of the Committees on Economic Cooperation, as well as on the preparation of bilateral documents planned for signing upon the outcomes of the meeting.
