Modernizing the national library system and creating a unified digital space have become one of the key vectors for the development of contemporary culture in Turkmenistan. The “State Program for the Development of the Library Sector for 2025–2029,” adopted at the initiative of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, serves as a guideline for this work.
The introduction of advanced technologies is completely changing the way readers interact with books. Today, residents of the country have instant access to a wide range of publications – from rare historical works and classics to scientific literature and children’s fairy tales. Large-scale digitalization not only improves the quality of service and expands educational opportunities for citizens but also strengthens Turkmenistan’s position in the international library community.
A striking example of this transformation is the State Library’s electronic platform, ekitap.gov.tm, which operates within the strict legal framework of the Law of Turkmenistan “On Libraries and Librarianship.” This online resource combines a rich collection of electronic publications, audiobooks, and periodicals with clear navigation and convenient registration by phone number.
Works by the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov are particularly popular among platform users. Along with these works, the e-library offers a vast selection of educational, scientific, and fiction literature, making reading an accessible and modern experience for audiences of all ages.
