New areas of cooperation between universities discussed in Tokyo

A meeting between management of International University for the Humanities and Development and President of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies took place in Tokyo. Current issues and promising areas for further development of bilateral inter-university cooperation were discussed, as reported by the education.gov.tm.
The talks were held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, based on the existing Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two higher education institutions in 2015. During the meeting, the parties discussed expanding academic exchanges, developing joint educational initiatives, strengthening research collaboration, and sharing experiences in training highly qualified international specialists.
Particular attention was paid to academic mobility for students and faculty, which is an important tool for strengthening humanitarian and educational ties between Turkmenistan and Japan. Vice-Rector of the International University for the Humanities and Development N.Shihlyev emphasized consistent and fruitful nature of cooperation with the Japanese partner university, noting the importance of joint programs for improving quality of education, enhancing students’ professional training, and expanding international academic interaction.
During the meeting, the Turkmen side noted that, since 2017, 11 students from the International University for the Humanities and Development have studied at the Tokyo University of International Studies as part of student exchange programs. It was emphasized that students’ participation in international educational programs contributes to the development of professional competencies, deepening their knowledge of foreign languages, familiarization with modern educational approaches, and strengthening intercultural dialogue between the youth of the two countries.
The activities of the Global Japan Office, which has been operating at the International University for the Humanities and Development since 2016, were particularly noted. It was emphasized that the office’s work plays a vital role in development of Turkmen-Japanese educational, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. Through educational, informational, and cultural initiatives, the Global Japan Office promotes collaboration with leading Japanese higher education institutions, strengthens academic contacts, promotes the Japanese language and culture, and creates additional opportunities for students and faculty in the areas of international exchange and professional development.
During the meeting, importance of inter-university cooperation was emphasized as a key factor in strengthening Turkmen-Japanese relations in the humanitarian and educational spheres. Representatives of the two universities expressed confidence that the further development of this partnership will contribute to the training of competitive specialists with modern knowledge and international experience.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in consistently expanding cooperation, implementing new joint projects, and further strengthening partnerships based on the principles of mutual respect, trust, and a commitment to developing long-term and effective inter-university collaboration.
