According to the 2026 Screen Tourism Forecast Index prepared by the international company Holafly, a huge influx of film tourists is expected in South Korea, Spain and Greece this year due to those who want to travel to the filming locations of famous films and TV series. The prepared index determined the expected tourism level of countries on a 100-point scale, taking into account the number of viewers, the cultural impact of the content, the symbolic significance of the location being shown and the tourist reception capabilities of the regions.
According to the indicators, South Korea took first place on the list, receiving 87.6 points out of 100. The expected tourism development in the country is associated with the release of the new season of the TV series “All of Us Are Dead”. After all, screen tourism in this country has already become a stable pillar of the national economy. Spain, which is in second place on the list (78.0 points), is expected to attract thousands of film tourists to its medieval towns such as Cáceres and Ourense as a result of the third season of the TV series “House of the Dragon”. In addition, Greece and Sicily, the filming locations of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey, will also become major film tourism destinations. This will further boost the activity of the 1,700-kilometer tourist routes newly opened in the Peloponnese region of Greece.
According to international research, screen tourism, that is, the tool for determining travel destinations through films, has become one of the fastest growing trends in the global tourism industry in recent years. Along with the top countries, the top ten of the search index also included Ireland (TV series “Wednesday”), Thailand (TV series “Jurassic World Rebirth”), Glasgow (TV series “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”), South Africa (TV series “Mission: Impossible 8”), Jordan (TV series “Dune: Prophecy”) and the Czech Republic (TV series “Blade Runner 2099”). Such projects provide additional impetus to the development of international air transport and the hotel system of the relevant regions and attract investment.
