The 2nd All-Russian scientific conference with international participation, “Altai in the Circle of Eurasian Antiquities,” will be held in Novosibirsk from October 13 to 15.
A major scientific forum, organized by the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences jointly with the Altai and Turkic Studies Research Center of the Altai State University “Greater Altai,” is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Central Asian researcher Vladimir Kubarev.
The conference will bring together over 100 scholars from leading research centers in Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. Experts will present approximately 80 papers covering a wide range of topics – from the Scythian-Siberian animal style and the Pazyryk culture to the study of the ancient Turkic period and the preservation of unique petroglyphs of the Altai Mountains.
In addition to the busy business program, guests and participants will enjoy excursions to the Museum of the History and Culture of the Peoples of Siberia and the Far East, an open-air historical and architectural museum, as well as photo exhibitions and a display of rare copies of rock paintings.
