Uzbekistan became the first CIS and Central Asian country to have 20th-century modernist architecture on the UNESCO list. At the 48th UNESCO World Heritage Committee session held in Busan, South Korea, 10 modernist architectural structures from Tashkent that marked the 20th century were officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, announced the historic development on her social media account. Mirziyoyeva emphasized the achievement, stating, “Today, a very important event took place for our country. For the first time in the last 25 years, a national nomination from Uzbekistan has achieved such a high status.” 10 Structures Declared World Heritage Sites:
