The 111th meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States Economic Council, organized as part of Turkmenistan’s 2026 CIS chairmanship, was held at the Yyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat. The CIS Secretary General, heads of the Executive Committee, and delegations, attended the meeting from Commonwealth states.
The parties discussed key objectives of trade and economic partnership, strengthening transport security, and expanding interstate ties. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the Transport Security Action Plan for 2026–2030 and the development of the North–South international transport corridor.
Participants also reviewed the Concept for Cooperation in the Production of Advanced Materials for High-Tech Industries.
During the meeting, held in both narrow and expanded formats, the importance of Turkmenistan’s leadership aimed at deepening integration and expanding multifaceted dialogue, was emphasized. Active preparations for the upcoming meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in October at the Avaza National Tourist Zone were noted.
CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan’s leadership for the high level of organization of the event and congratulated the country on the upcoming 35th anniversary of independence.
Following the forum, a package of documents was signed aimed at further developing strategic socio-economic cooperation between the participating countries.
