From 6 to 10 July, the delegation of Turkmenistan will take part in the 49th session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission , held in Geneva, Switzerland, at the Geneva International Conference Centre.

The delegation of Turkmenistan includes a representative of the State Veterinary Service, Dr. Arslan Soltanmyradov , and Annanepesova Maya, a representative of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.

The Codex Alimentarius Commission is the highest intergovernmental body of the Joint Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), responsible for the development, adoption and continuous improvement of international standards, guidelines and codes of practice in the field of food safety, consumer health protection, and the promotion of fair and transparent practices in international food trade.

The session will address current issues related to improving international food safety standards, harmonizing national food quality and safety control systems, scientifically substantiating sanitary requirements, and further developing international cooperation within the framework of implementing the Codex Alimentarius principles. During the multi-day session in Geneva, representatives from Turkmenistan will actively participate in plenary sessions and technical discussions on improving quality control standards, biosafety, and interagency cooperation mechanisms.
