China’s EV charging infrastructure exceeded 22.49 million units by the end of May, up 44.9 percent from a year earlier. This is evidenced by data from the National Energy Administration. And this figure is constantly increasing. China is encouraging the construction of more powerful charging stations.

According to China’s automobile industry development plan, the share of electric vehicles (NEVs) in sales/production will exceed 85% by 2040. Electric vehicles without internal combustion engines will account for 80% of total EV sales.

Last October, Chinese authorities published the “Action Plan to Double Electric Vehicle Charging Station Capacity in Three Years (2025-2027).” The document notes that by the end of 2027, 28 million chargers will be built across the country, providing over 300 million kilowatts of “public charging capacity” to meet the charging needs of over 80 million electric vehicles.
