High school students from Turkmenistan have received an invitation to participate in the Open International Astronomy Olympiad (OWAO 2026), which will be held in the Sirius Federal District of Russia.
According to the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan, the country can be represented by a national team of two to six students under the age of 18, with the host country fully covering the costs of accommodation and meals for the students, the team leader, and observers.
The intellectual competition will be held in English and will consist of four stages: theoretical, practical, observation, and testing. For the convenience of participants, a glossary of terms in Turkmen will be available.
In addition to the competition itself, an educational program has been prepared for the students, including lectures on astrophysics, master classes, and excursions. Applications are open on the Olympiad’s official website until October 4, 2026.
