High scho­ol stu­dents from Turk­me­nis­tan have received an invita­ti­on to par­ticipa­te in the Open In­ter­na­tio­nal Ast­ro­no­my Olym­pi­ad (OWAO 2026), which will be held in the Si­ri­us Fe­de­ral Dist­rict of Rus­sia.
Accor­ding to the Rus­si­an Em­bas­sy in Turk­me­nis­tan, the count­ry can be rep­re­sen­ted by a na­tio­nal te­am of two to six stu­dents un­der the age of 18, with the host count­ry ful­ly covering the costs of accom­mo­da­ti­on and meals for the stu­dents, the te­am lea­der, and ob­servers.
The in­tel­lectu­al com­pe­ti­ti­on will be held in Eng­lish and will con­sist of fo­ur sta­ges: theo­re­tical, practical, ob­servation, and tes­ting. For the convenience of par­ticipants, a glos­sa­ry of terms in Turk­men will be avai­lab­le.
In ad­di­ti­on to the com­pe­ti­ti­on it­self, an educatio­nal prog­ram has be­en pre­pa­red for the stu­dents, inclu­ding lectu­res on ast­rop­hy­sics, mas­ter clas­ses, and excur­sions. App­lications are open on the Olym­pi­ad’s of­ficial web­si­te un­til Octo­ber 4, 2026.
