In the first six months of 2026, Ma­lay­sia welcomed 4,469 tou­rists from Turk­me­nis­tan, cont­ri­bu­ting sig­ni­ficant­ly to the overall gro­wing tou­rist flow from Cent­ral Asia. Overall, the re­gi­on de­monst­ra­ted strong growth: 53,347 travelers from Turk­me­nis­tan, Ka­zakhs­tan, Uz­be­kis­tan, Kyr­gyzs­tan, and Ta­ji­kis­tan visi­ted the count­ry, a 23.3% increa­se com­pa­red to the sa­me pe­ri­od last year.
Accor­ding to Tou­rism Ma­lay­sia, Turk­men travelers are increa­sing­ly choo­sing Ma­lay­sia due to its strong cul­tu­ral af­fi­ni­ty and develo­ped ha­lal inf­rast­ructu­re, from acces­sib­le prayer si­tes to a wi­de se­lecti­on of tra­di­tio­nal cui­si­ne.
Tou­rism Ma­lay­sia Al­ma­ty Di­rector Nor Shaz­li Az­mi no­ted the re­gi­on’s high po­ten­ti­al and emp­ha­si­zed the des­ti­na­ti­on’s ap­pe­al for com­bi­ning beach ho­li­da­ys, shop­ping, a rich excur­si­on prog­ram, and en­ter­ta­in­ment. An ad­di­tio­nal incen­tive for travel is the expan­si­on of the air travel net­work as part of the lar­ge-scale in­ter­na­tio­nal cam­paign Visit Ma­lay­sia 2026-2027.
