During an informal meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced that the first Central Asia-Azerbaijan summit will be held in Turkmenistan on October 8, 2020. This was reported by the country’s International Information Center.
The head of state announced that the draft agenda for the upcoming historic meeting has already been prepared and sent to all countries participating in the new partnership format.
The document covers five key areas of interstate cooperation, including the exchange of views on current issues of regional and international security, as well as the strengthening of political and diplomatic ties.
The agenda places particular emphasis on expanding cooperation in the energy sector, developing sustainable transport and logistics corridors, joint environmental protection activities, adaptation to climate change, rational use of water resources, and supporting efforts to save the Aral Sea.
In addition, the set of measures provides for the further expansion of cultural and humanitarian contacts, educational and youth exchanges.
