The Turkmen delegation will participate in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, which will take place from May 17 to 22 in Baku. The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) jointly with the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan is organizing the event.
Relevant instructions for preparations for participation were given following a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to carry out the necessary organizational work.
Turkmenistan is actively developing cooperation with UN-Habitat to implement international standards in urban planning, sustainable urban development, and smart technologies. In 2023, the city of Arkadag received a UN-Habitat Certificate of Appreciation for its efforts to implement the principles of inclusive, safe, sustainable, and smart neighborhoods, contributing to the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda in Turkmenistan.
