From June 30 to July 9, the Central and North Asian Youth Chess Championship is taking place on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan, with athletes from Turkmenistan participating.
Representatives from five countries in the region are participating: Kazakhstan (123 athletes), Kyrgyzstan (193), Tajikistan (11), Uzbekistan (87), and Turkmenistan (19).
The tournament opened with the rapid chess competition, in which the Turkmen chess players performed admirably, winning two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal.
Gold medalists are:
Meryem Rustemova (rating 1585), a third-grade student at Secondary School No. 27 in Lebap Velayat (born in 2018). She scored 6 points out of a possible 7 and increased her international rating by 46.8 points.
Byagul Dzhumaeva (rating 1597), a fourth-grade student at Secondary School No. 2 in Danev Etrap in Lebap Velayat (born in 2017). She scored 6.5 points and increased her rating by 97.2 points.
Silver medalists are:
Annamuhammed Khommadov (rating 2396), a third-year student at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports and alumnus of the Ashgabat Specialized Chess and Checkers School. He trains under the guidance of Serdar Annaberdiev. The athlete scored 5 points and increased her rating by 22.8 points.
Lala Shokhradova (rating 2153), a student at the Yagshigeldy Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas. She trains under Serdar Annaberdiev and scored 5 points during the match.
The bronze medalist is:
Aya Bayramova (rating 1920), a 7th-grader at Secondary School No. 31 in the Lebap Velayat (born in 2014). She scored 5.5 points and increased her rating by 39.6 points.
The successful performance of the Turkmen chess players at the championship confirmed the high level of training of the country’s young athletes and marked another achievement of the national chess school on the international stage. The athletes’ participation is taking place under the auspices of the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan. A busy competition program awaits our chess players, in which they will have the opportunity to prove themselves.
