On October 22, a training course on brucellosis prevention, diagnosis, and control has been ongoing as part of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) regional project “One Health Pandemic Preparedness and Response in Central Asia.”
The practical portion of the training is conducted through on-site simulation exercises at the Sakhabatly livestock complex in the Gokdepe district of the Ahal province.
Leading international FAO brucellosis experts Svetlana Bardenshtein and Nadav Galon, who have extensive experience in epidemiological surveillance, diagnosis, and prevention of infectious animal diseases worldwide, conduct the training.
Arslan Soltanmyradov, national expert and head of the International and Scientific Relations Department of the State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, coordinates and supports the experts in the simulation training on the Turkmen side.
Specialists from the state veterinary and sanitary-epidemiological services, veterinary laboratory staff, and representatives from the Arkadag Equine Research Center are actively participating in the event.
The training brings together representatives from various ministries and agencies involved in implementing the One Health approach, as well as specialists from veterinary and medical services, clearly demonstrating Turkmenistan’s commitment to the principles of the integrated interaction between humans, animals, and the environment.
FAO international experts highly praised the organization and delivery of the training, expressing their gratitude to the host country for the high level of preparation and active participation of the specialists. Arslan Soltanmyradov, in turn, thanked the FAO experts for their comprehensive support and practical assistance in training national personnel in accordance with international veterinary standards.
Such events contribute to strengthening the scientific and professional potential of the country’s specialists, developing international cooperation, and successfully implementing Turkmenistan’s state policy in the field of animal health and biological security.
