The ruling party, Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia, won all municipalities in the mayoral and local council elections. This is according to data published by the Central Election Commission after processing 100% of the ballots, TASS reports.
According to the CEC, Georgian Dream is receiving over 81% of the vote nationwide. Its mayoral candidates are winning in all major self-governing cities and municipalities. The ruling party is securing a clear majority in all city and district assemblies.
In Tbilisi, the ruling party’s mayoral candidate, Kakha Kaladze, received 71.612% of the vote after processing 100% of the ballots. Georgian Dream will receive over 70% of the mandates in the 50-member Tbilisi City Council. Furthermore, the ruling party’s candidates won in all single-mandate constituencies in Tbilisi.
Georgian Dream won both majoritarian and proportional seats in other municipalities. The ruling party’s mayoral candidates also won convincingly in the remaining four self-governing cities – Batumi, Kutaisi, Poti, and Rustavi.
Municipal elections were held across the country on October 4. Mayors and members of legislative assemblies were elected in 64 municipalities. 3,061 polling stations were open to more than 3.5 million voters.
