An awards ceremony was held in Munich for German doctors who contributed to the development of Turkmenistan’s healthcare system. The event, held at the Bayerischer Hof Hotel, was timed to coincide with the country’s 30th anniversary of permanent neutrality, according to the country’s Medical Information Center.
Cardiac surgeon Johann Engelbert Meissner, Klaus Georg Parkhofer, Liesl Doris Heussermann-Mangold, and Volkmar Jansson from the clinics of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, received commemorative medals “Türkmenistanyň Bitaraplygynyň 30 ýyllygyna” and commemorative silver badges. The awards recognize their contribution to the training of Turkmen specialists and the introduction of modern technologies in the country’s medical centers.
Turkmen Ambassador Berdimyrat Rejepov thanked the doctors for their long-standing exchange of experience and cooperation. The laureates noted that Turkmenistan’s medical infrastructure has significantly improved in recent decades and has become one of the most modern in the region.
