Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Misotakis has announced that the government will soon consider banning children and adolescents from using social networks under the age of 15, as reported by Bloomberg.
“Continuous browsing on social networks is harmful to their mental health, and we need to find a way to do this,” the Prime Minister said.
According to Misotakis, a proposal on this issue will be announced in a few weeks.
The agency writes that Greece will become the latest European country to restrict the use of social networks by children and adolescents. According to Misotakis, eventually, Europe will develop a unified approach to this issue.
Previously, France, Slovenia, Great Britain, Poland, and Portugal had expressed their views on restricting or completely banning the use of social networks by minors. Australia became the first country in the world to ban social networks for those under 16 on December 10 last year.
