​The capital city of Ashgabat has set the stage for one of the most significant events in the history of domestic chess — the Turkmenistan Team Chess Championship. The tournament is taking place from March 22 to 28 at the Specialized Chess and Checkers School of Ashgabat.
​This competition is being held for the first time since the country gained independence, opening a new chapter in the development of team chess in Turkmenistan.
​Twelve of the nation’s strongest teams are participating in the championship, representing sports schools, higher education institutions, government agencies, and public organizations.
