Hungary is entering one of the most intense election campaigns in recent years. Parliamentary elections in Hungary will be held on April 12, Armenpress reports.
Starting on February 21, candidates and their teams have just two weeks to collect the required number of signatures and secure a spot on the ballot. Campaign posters are legally permitted, and supporting leaflets can be obtained from district election commissions.
Each candidate must collect at least 500 signatures, which must be submitted to the election commission by March 6. Any activity that could influence the will of voters is considered part of the election campaign, from posters and political advertising to direct communications and rallies.
Polls show different parties winning, depending on who conducted the polls. Sociologists close to the government favor the ruling Fidesz party, led by current Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, while the Nezopont Institute predicts Fidesz will receive 46% of the vote, while the opposition Tisza party will receive 40%. Independent polls, however, show Tisza’s consistent lead.
