Imports from Turkmenistan to Iran increased significantly in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 to April 20, 2025), as reported the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
The volume of imports from Turkmenistan increased by 22.9% in financial terms and almost doubled – by 98% by weight – compared to the same period last year (March 20 to April 19, 2024).
In total, Iran imported 679 tons of goods worth 496 thousand dollars during the specified period, compared to 343 tons worth 404 thousand dollars last year. The structure of imports includes petroleum coke, cotton, fabrics and other goods.
IRICA also noted that non-resource trade between Iran and Turkmenistan amounted to about 105 thousand tons worth 27.4 million dollars, which is 3% more in value terms and 2.5% more in volume compared to the same period last year.
Iran’s total non-primary imports for the month amounted to 1.8 million tons worth 2.85 billion dollars, up 2.3 percent in value and 26.4 percent in weight compared to last year, according to the report.
