The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, High Representative for the Least Developed, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States Rabab Fatima, as well as Permanent Representative of the Plurinational State of Bolivia to the UN, Chairman of the LLDC Group Diego Pacheco made presentations at the briefing.
The speakers particularly noted that, in accordance with the UN General Assembly resolution adopted at the end of July 2025, August 6 will be the first international day to be celebrated, the title of which notes the importance of raising awareness of the needs and problems of landlocked countries. This will give a powerful impetus to strengthening partnerships for the benefit of these countries.
It is noteworthy that this day is being celebrated for the first time during the period when Turkmenistan is hosting a historic event – the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.
This day will be a starting point for intensifying efforts to resolve the problems these countries face, including climate challenges, increased costs in the transportation of goods and services, and others.
