On March 6, the Business Forum “International Year of Peace and Trust: Conference on Investment Promotion in Turkmenistan”, organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the People’s Republic of China jointly with the China Overseas Development Association was held in Beijing.
The objective of the Forum was to share the investment potential of Turkmenistan for 40 Chinese companies-members of the Association.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan P.Durdyev, the President of the Association He Zhenwei, and the Trade Representative of the Embassy Sh.Batyrov made speeches during the forum.
In his welcoming speech, the President of the Association He Zhenwei touching upon the history of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and China, emphasized specific areas of economic cooperation. At the same time, the importance of the Turkmenistan–China energy bridge was emphasized.
In his speech, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan focused on the political aspects and importance of the work being carried out to implement in the medium-term until 2028 and long-term until 2052 socio-economic programs of Turkmenistan, aimed at improving the welfare of the people and strengthening the economic power of the country. In this context, he called on representatives of the Chinese business community to actively cooperate with Turkmenistan.
P. Durdyev made accent on the importance of the book by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov “Magtymguly – the Sage of the World”. As was emphasized during the meeting, a special Resolution of the UN General Assembly, initiated by the President of Turkmenistan, declared 2025 the “International Year of Peace and Trust”, which is marked by the 30th anniversary of the Neutrality of our country.
Trade Representative of the Embassy S.Batyrov in his presentation outlined favourable fields for attracting Chinese investment, such as the oil and gas chemical industry, the agro-industrial complex, transport and logistics, telecommunications and information technologies, and others.
At the end of the meeting, the sites discussed the possibility of holding a specialized Turkmen-Chinese Business Forum in Ashgabat this year.
