Iran plans to create a joint border market with Turkmenistan to boost investment, North Khorasan Governor Bahman Nouri said at a press conference in the governor’s office on Wednesday, the Mehr website reported.
In March 2025, the government agencies of Turkmenistan and Iran held a working group meeting to discuss issues related to the construction of a trading platform on the Turkmen-Iranian border.
The creation of a border-trading platform will promote cross-border trade and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
Turkmenistan and Iran also plan to build two new railway lines at the Sarakhs border crossing to increase rail traffic.
