The name of the city of Jalal-abad in the Kyrgyz Republic is to be changed to Manas. The country’s National Parliament has approved a bill to change the name of the city. Of the 86 deputies who participated in the vote, 80 supported the proposal, 6 abstained. The proposal to change the name of the city in the south of the country was proposed by the mayor of the city, Ernisbek Ormokov. The law will come into force after the President of the country signs it.
