As we reported before, on October 3-4, Ashgabat hosted the Culture Days of Korea. This annual cultural event, which has become a tradition and is organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Turkmenistan, concluded with a concert evening on October 4.

Opera lovers once again warmly welcomed the wonderful performances of Korean artists—tenor Hwapyung Kwon and mezzo-soprano Miji Kwon—who performed alongside the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan under conducted by the maestro Resul Gylyjov. Before the performance, the singers warmly greeted the audience in Turkmen language. Then the artists performed ancient and modern lyrical songs from Korean literature on stage. The concert evening was an unforgettable with beautiful songs like “Fate”, “I can’t forget”, “I will live in Green Mountain”. In particular, Resul Gylyjov and his orchestra skillfully performed the music “The Belt of Faith” from the famous Korean drama film Parasite (2019). The sweet Korean melodies left a pleasant impression on the audience.

“This is my third time visiting Turkmenistan. My last visit left us with unforgettable impressions. I visited the sights of Ashgabat, and went to shopping and entertainment centers. I really liked the food there. And at our concert this evening, we were delighted by the respect that the Turkmen people have for our musical art and culture. And it is wonderful to perform with Maestro Resul Gylyjov and with his orchestra”. Moreover I would like to come and perform in this city again,” said singer Hwapyung Kwon.
