French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu has been appointed Prime Minister of the Republic following the resignation of François Bayrou’s government, as reported by TASS, citing a statement from the Elysee Palace.
On the evening of September 9, French President Emmanuel Macron appointed Lecornu as the country’s next Prime Minister. After consultations with the leaders of political parties, Lecornu will present his list of future ministers for the head of state’s approval.
“The President of the Republic has appointed Sébastien Lecornu as Prime Minister. He has instructed him to hold consultations with the political forces represented in parliament in order to adopt the country’s budget and reach the agreements necessary for decision-making in the coming months,” the French presidential administration said in a statement.
