On October 9, 2025, the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, J. Gurbangeldiyev, met with a delegation led by Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, Chief Secretary for Political Affairs to the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The parties discussed key challenges in the education system and explored new directions for bilateral cooperation. As reported by the education.gov.tm.
During the meeting, the main focus was placed on strengthening ties between higher educational institutions of the two countries and ensuring the effective implementation of existing agreements.
The Minister of Education of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to the Malaysian delegation for participating in the international exhibition and scientific conference titled “Health Care, Education and Sports in the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State”, as well as for visiting to become more familiar with Turkmenistan’s higher educational institutions. He expressed confidence that this visit would create new opportunities for developing educational relations between the two nations.
In turn, Shamsul Iskandar thanked the Minister for the invitation to take part in the international exhibition and scientific conference. He emphasized the great potential for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Malaysia in the field of education and presented several proposals aimed at strengthening this partnership.
At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their strong interest in further active cooperation and their commitment to implementing new projects and education-related initiatives.
