A series of meetings were held in Florence, Italy, between the leaders of the prestigious higher education institution of our country, the International University of Humanities and Development, and Kent State University, USA. During the fruitful working visit, Vice-Rector of the IUHD N. Shykhlyev, became fully acquainted with the history, structure, programs and international activities of the Kent State University department, which was opened in Florence in 1972.
As is known, on October 2, 2024, consultations and events were held in Kent, Ohio, USA, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the International University of Humanities and Development and Kent State University. It should be noted that within the framework of this document, a draft agreement is being actively developed between the two universities on the first of its kind in the higher education system of Turkmenistan, namely, two master’s degrees in Economics and Management (Business Administration) (M.B.A.). The implementation of this program includes two years of study in the relevant field in Turkmenistan and America, as well as the award of one diploma from each university, a total of two. Of course, this curriculum will allow postgraduates to successfully master the skills that meet the modern requirements of the business sector of the international economy, gain a strategic perspective and in-depth knowledge in the fields of management, economics and finance.
At a meeting between the Vice-Rector of the International University for the Humanities and Development N. Shykhlyev and the Director of the Florence Department of Kent State University Fabrizio Riccardelli, a number of priority areas for strengthening cooperation between universities were discussed. The parties reached an agreement to implement academic mobility in areas of mutual interest on a long-term basis. In addition, a number of proposals were presented to the leaders of the American state university, including the further integration of our country’s higher education institution into the international academic community, including joining the consortium of international universities led by the Florence Department of Kent State University. Creating all necessary conditions for accepting and training students of the IUHD within the framework of the summer school program of the American University in Florence, inviting teachers of the IUHD to a one-year course at the Kent State University branch in the USA. Moreover, considering the possibility of inviting teachers of the Florence Department of Kent State University to teach at the IUHD.
At the end of the meeting, the parties noted that they would continue negotiations on the agreements reached and expressed their gratitude to each other for the active nature of the consultations.
