A 2003 Logoman card with an autograph and a patch from Jordan’s uniform has become the most expensive among all cards of the NBA legend. However, it is more than four times less than the record of a Mickey Mantle card sold in 2022.
A signed Michael Jordan card from the 2003 Upper Deck collection has sold for a record $2.9 million, as reported the press service of the Goldin auction.
The winning buyer offered $2.4 million for the card and paid an additional 22% commission to the auction. This is a record price for cards of the six-time NBA champion ever sold at auction.
The Logoman card was released in a single copy, it contains an NBA patch cut from Jordan’s uniform with the Chicago Bulls, and received the maximum 10 points from the PSA company, which evaluates the quality of cards, Sportico writes.
Jordan’s card, despite its high price, is significantly behind the record for a 1952 Topps trading card of New York Yankees baseball player Mickey Mantle, which sold at auction in 2022 for $12.6 million.
Jordan, a six-time NBA champion with Chicago and a two-time Olympic champion, retired in 2003.
Jordan, 61, is one of four athletes on the Forbes billionaires list, along with LeBron James, Magic Johnson and Tiger Woods.
