In honor of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s acquisition of the legal status of permanent neutrality, the Central Bank of our country is putting into circulation modified polymer banknotes of 1, 5, 10 manats, as well as a new polymer banknote of 200 manats, starting from December 1, the Year of International Peace and Trust.
As reported in the press release of the Central Bank, the main feature of these banknotes is their resistance to external influences such as dirt, wear, and damage. In addition, their security features have been enhanced, and their images confirming authenticity have been visually improved. The colors and design of the 1, 5, and 10 manat banknotes have been preserved in their original form, and the symbol of the Year of International Peace and Trust is depicted on them. The 200-manat banknote features the Arkadag building on the front, and the Arkadag city administration building on the back. The obverse of the modified manats to be put into circulation and the new banknote show the date of their issue and a facsimile of the signature of the Chairman of the Board of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.
These banknotes are subject to mandatory acceptance by all institutions, enterprises and organizations, regardless of their type of ownership and line of business, for all types of payments within the territory of our country. All banknotes of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan of the 2009, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2020 series remain legal tender in the territory of Turkmenistan. In order to accurately determine the authenticity of banknotes and coins in circulation within the country, it is necessary to check at least five security features.
