Today, September 16, a two-day Media Literacy Training for Young Journalists began at the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat. Journalists attended the training from newspapers, magazines, news websites, radio, and television outlets, as well as instructors from the International university for the Humanities and Development, Institute of the International relations of the foreign affairs of Turkmenistan and Magtymguly Turkmen state university.
OSCE experts Serdar Agayev and Dayanch Konarov conducted the training, with Duman Smakov, an expert from the MediaNet International Journalism Centre in Kazakhstan, also participating online. The experts provided participants with insights on how to identify and prevent false information and reports in the modern media landscape.
Journalists exchanged views on the topic of their legal protection. They also discussed fact-checking and its benefits. Additionally, participants explored the use of artificial intelligence in modern media, including its advantages and potential harms. The training, which concludes tomorrow, has provided a productive platform for participants to exchange views.
