A pilot program for transition to a four-day working week will be launched in Poland on June 30, as reported infor.pl.
The Sejm on the recommendation of the country’s Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy adopted the program. The ministry believes that shorter working hours will bring numerous benefits to both employees and employers. On the one hand, the physical and mental health of the population will be strengthened; Poles will have more time for self-development and will improve the balance between work and personal life. On the other hand, work efficiency and competitiveness in the labor market will increase, and staff turnover will decrease. The pilot program will last 15-18 months. It is especially emphasized that during its operation, workers’ salaries will not decrease.
The transition to a shorter working week is primarily associated with the inevitable demographic crisis in Poland.
