Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fiso opened the country’s longest road tunnel to traffic on roller skates. A video of the event was posted on the prime minister’s Facebook page. “I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to roller skate through the entire tunnel,” Fiso said.
The tunnel, which runs under a mountain range near the city of Žilina in northwestern Slovakia, has been under construction for nearly 30 years due to changes in plans and financing. It is 7.5 kilometers long. Once it is operational, it will significantly reduce the time drivers spend traveling from the country’s western to eastern regions.
