Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud announced the launch of a new, large-scale urban development project in Mecca called King Salman Gate. King Salman
Gate will cover approximately 12 million square meters and will be located in close proximity to the Holy Mosque. The project aims to develop urban infrastructure, improve transport access to the holy site, and enhance services for pilgrims and residents.
The complex will combine residential, hotel, retail, and cultural areas, offering a variety of opportunities for residents, pilgrims, and tourists. It will be able to accommodate approximately 900,000 people praying both indoors and outdoors.
King Salman Gate will provide a powerful boost to the local economy: by 2036, the project is expected to create over 300,000 jobs, contributing to the national Vision 2030 strategy aimed at economic diversification and sustainable growth.
The launch of the King Salman Gate project marks another step in Saudi Arabia’s transformation of Mecca into a modern, dynamic, world-class city while preserving its spiritual and cultural identity.
The project aims to support the growing flow of pilgrims, create new jobs, and transform Mecca into a symbol of the harmony of tradition and progress.
