The next summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be held in the fall of 2025 in Tianjin (China), opening a new chapter in the development of the Organization. As reported by the country’s MIC.
According to SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev, China is successfully chairing, and the upcoming summit will be a key event of the “year of China”.
Touching upon the participants of the summit, the Secretary General noted that the proposals on their composition are made by the presiding country. Traditionally, Mongolia (observer) and Turkmenistan, which is regularly invited as a guest of the presiding country, participate in the meetings of the Council of Heads of State, which emphasizes its interest in regional cooperation.
Nurlan Yermekbayev spoke about the plans and priorities of the SCO, preparations for high-level meetings and measures to strengthen security in the region. He emphasized that the SCO, after 24 years, has become an important participant in international relations, and its role in strengthening peace, security, stability and the formation of a fair world order is growing.
Turkmenistan’s participation in SCO events helps strengthen its position in the international arena and develop dialogue in the region. The organization has no shortage of applications for membership, which testifies to its importance.
