The 14th International Short Film Festival of the CIS, Baltic, and Georgian Countries will open in Bishkek on April 21, according to organizers.
This year’s festival is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the outstanding filmmaker Algimantas Vidugiris. More than 900 directors from various countries submitted applications.
Over the years, the film festival has become an integral part of Bishkek’s cultural life, developing into a large-scale platform for dialogue and collaboration. Here, directors, producers, and experts meet to present their work, exchange experiences, discuss current trends, and lay the foundation for future joint projects.
The festival not only introduces audiences to the best short films from the CIS, Baltic, and Georgia, but also promotes the development of young talent, the formation of audience culture, and the strengthening of cultural ties between countries.
The festival program includes two competition categories – international and national. The screenings will feature feature films, documentaries, animation, and experimental films.
The international competition includes 14 films from various countries. The national program will present 15 of the best short films by Kyrgyz directors.
