Slovakia has launched a large-scale government program aimed at stimulating the birth rate and supporting young families. The initiative provides for financial payments at the birth of a child, housing subsidies and tax breaks for parents.
According to the government’s plan, each family with a first child will receive a one-time payment of 5,000 euros. The amount will increase with the birth of second and subsequent children. Preferential mortgage loans and extended maternity benefits are also being introduced.
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Slovakia noted that the measures are aimed at mitigating the demographic decline and creating conditions for improving the quality of life of families. The program is designed for five years, and its budget exceeds 90 million euros.
Experts believe that comprehensive support will help not only improve the demographic situation, but also increase economic activity in regions experiencing population outflow.
