Kyrgyzstan has approved a resolution recognizing the snow leopard as the country’s national symbol. This was reported on the website of the country’s Cabinet of Ministers. The document, signed by the head of the cabinet, Adylbek Kasymaliyev, defines the procedure for adopting and using the official logo depicting a snow leopard. It is prohibited to distort the image, use it in political campaigns, and advertise in content that violates the law or harms the reputation of the state.
The resolution was adopted in order to preserve, protect and promote symbols that reflect the natural and cultural heritage of Kyrgyzstan. The snow leopard is included in the Red Book of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and is considered a rare or endangered species in 12 countries, including Kyrgyzstan.
