On August 23, as part of the international exhibition and fair “Kids Expo: Everything for Children”, held in Ashgabat, an exciting competition “Robot Sumo” was held. About 50 young enthusiasts from all over the country took part in this spectacular tournament, organized jointly by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the private enterprise “Döwrebap Maslahat”.
The competition was held in an individual format, where the participants put their robots in a special arena. Similar to traditional Japanese sumo wrestling, the main goal of each robot was to push the opponent out of the designated area. The battles were fierce, revealing not only the technical skills, but also the strategic thinking of young designers.
All participants demonstrated a high level of training and creativity, trying their best to prove the superiority of their machines.
“At the competition, students presented robots assembled by themselves. Each robot weighed 1.2 kg and had dimensions of 25 × 25 cm. The battery voltage did not exceed 12 volts, and Ardunio TT were used as engines. The key element for victory was the strategy embedded in the robot’s program code,” said the chief judge of the competition, Ismail Khakimov.
Based on the results of the judging, the winners were announced:
1st place was taken by Alikhan Akgayev, a student of the A.S. Pushkin Joint Turkmen-Russian Secondary Comprehensive School. He also studies at the Turkmen-Indian Center for Information Technologies.
2nd place went to Rozymyrat Yagshymuradov, a student of the 13th secondary school with in-depth study of foreign languages and the educational center “Kämil bilim”.
3rd place was taken by Ayhan Karyagdyev, a student of the 18th school, who also studies at the Turkmen-Indian Center for Information Technologies.
