On January 21, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan, Atadurdy Bayramov, met with the Chairman of the Japan-Turkmenistan Committee on Economic Cooperation, Hiroyuki Tsubai, in Tokyo.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss cooperation plans for 2026, including the implementation of joint economic projects in Turkmenistan to further strengthen the bilateral partnership between Turkmenistan and Japan.
The Japanese side confirmed the need to continue work on the economic projects announced by the President of Turkmenistan at the first “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue Summit held in Tokyo on December 20, 2025, including in the area of the circular economy.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of further developing the medical cluster in Arkadag city, in which the Japanese company “Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd.” is also actively participating.
At the end of the meeting, the sides agreed to set a date for holding the next 16th Joint Meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation in Tokyo in 2026.
