National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, visited the Ashgabat Olympic Village and inspected the Olympic Stadium’s preparations for the international football match.
During his visit, Hero Arkadag inspected the pitch, stands, and infrastructure of the stadium, which can accommodate 45000 spectators. The stadium will host the Round of 16 match of the Second AFC Champions League between «Arkadag» Football Club and «Al-Nassr» Club of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan emphasized the need for the facility to be fully prepared and for all involved agencies to coordinate their work. Particular attention was paid to conditions for fans, athletes, coaches, and the work of foreign media. With 10 days remaining until the match,
D. Orazov, Chairman of the State Committee for Construction of Arkadag City under the President of Turkmenistan, reported on the compliance of the football pitch with international standards and the stadium’s readiness for competitions and training.
The Olympic Village was built on the initiative of Hero Arkadag. It hosted the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2017, the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships, the 2023 Kurash World Championships, and other international tournaments.
During the visit, it was noted that Turkmenistan is consistently developing its sports infrastructure and expanding its practice of hosting international competitions. This also applies to football, which receives systematic support at the state level.
Having completed his inspection of the facilities, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left the Olympic Village.
