The Concept for Turkmenistan’s CIS Presidency in 2026 and the Action Plan for its implementation have been published on the official website of the CIS Executive Committee.
The document outlines five priority areas: maintaining peace and security, developing the economy and transport connectivity, digital transformation, the environmental agenda, and humanitarian cooperation.
In the political sphere, it is planned to strengthen regional stability and intensify diplomatic dialogue between the CIS countries.
The economic agenda includes the development of the North-South and East-West transport corridors, expanding energy cooperation, and stimulating trade and investment.
The environmental agenda envisages the implementation of joint projects in renewable energy and adaptation to climate change.
The Action Plan for 2026 includes 25 key events. Seven of these will be held in Turkmenistan, including meetings of the CIS Heads of Government Council in May, the Economic Council in September, the Council of Foreign Ministers and the Council of Heads of State of the CIS on October 9 in Avaza, and a meeting of the Council for Cultural Cooperation in Ashgabat.
