On October 13, a delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Oguljennet Berdiliyeva, Chairperson of the Women’s Union of Turkmenistan, participated in the 2025 Global Women’s Summit in Beijing.
Speaking at the summit, whose theme was “Common Future: A Renewed and Accelerated Process of Comprehensive Development of Women,” Oguljennet Berdiliyeva emphasized that ensuring women’s rights is a priority of state policy in Turkmenistan. Under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, systematic work is underway to create equal opportunities for women in education, healthcare, science, economics, and public administration.
The Women’s Union of Turkmenistan, as the largest public organization, actively participates in the implementation of national programs aimed at enhancing the role of women in society, promoting gender equality, and strengthening the institution of the family.
In her speech, Oguljennet Berdiliyeva noted the support for Turkmen women entrepreneurs, the initiation of projects in rural areas, assistance to young professionals in their careers and education, and the development of international cooperation. Turkmenistan places special emphasis on raising a new generation of girls who are confident, educated, patriotic, and open to the world.
Turkmenistan actively collaborates with international partners, including the UN and its specialized agencies, to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly in achieving Goal 5—gender equality.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, held in Beijing.
Thirty years ago, the Beijing Conference, which brought together thousands of women from around the world, adopted the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action—a document that outlined not only the challenges but also solutions for women everywhere. This document provided a powerful impetus for reforms aimed at improving the status of women in various countries, including Turkmenistan.
